Autism Funding - BC Families

Funding Overview & Rates

The BC Autism Funding Program provides annual support to help families access specialized developmental programming. This funding can be applied directly to our specialized water safety curriculum:

  • Under age 6: Up to $22,000 per year
  • Ages 6–18: Up to $6,000 per year

If your child receives this funding, it may be used to support their participation in our specialized 32-session program.

Subject to change in April 1st 2027 to BC Children and Youth Disability Benefit and the BC Children and Youth Disability Supplement

Tier Alignment & Policy

To ensure equitable distribution of subsidy funds, families with active autism funding follow specific tier placement logic:

  • Families receiving funding may be assessed one tier higher in the subsidy model.
  • If funding is fully allocated elsewhere (e.g., ABA, SLP), families may remain in their original tier.
  • Families may be requested to provide documentation, such as therapy budgets or invoices, for assessment.

How Fee Assessments Work

We believe financial circumstances should never be a barrier to life-saving skills. All information shared during the assessment is kept strictly confidential. Our team works with you to ensure a supportive, low-pressure process focused on accessibility and your child's success.

Why We Don’t Offer Per-Session Rates

The Big Effort swimmers benefit from a program designed as a therapeutic intervention that relies on consistency over time, not one-off lessons. Real progress in water safety and aquatic comfort is built session-by-session through a familiar and supportive routine that respects the unique sensory processing needs of every child.

We clearly state that a single session at a $56.25 rate would provide minimal to no benefit for our participants. Children with autism thrive on repeated exposure, trust-building with specialized instructors, and gradual skill development. A continuous program structure is the only way to ensure the emotional safety and lasting skills your child deserves.

Our full program structure is intentionally built to maximize your child's outcomes, not to sell more hours. The investment reflects the specialized clinical design for each learner, the dedicated preparation for each participant, and the ongoing monitoring involved to provide the highest level of care for every family we serve.
