Meet Fable

Meet Fable! Diagnosed with ASD, global development delay and cerebral palsy. When Fable joined the program, she loved the water and had no fear of it—but she also didn’t understand how dangerous it can be. Like many “fearless” swimmers, she ran on the pool deck, jumped into the water without thinking, and didn’t yet recognize when she needed help. Because of her cerebral palsy, even shallow, knee‑high water could cause her to fall and she wasn’t always able to get herself back up.

Fearful vs. Fearless

We often see two kinds of children in the water: Fearful: They need to learn that water can be soothing, predictable, and fun. Fearless: Like Fable, they need to learn that water can be dangerous and that safety rules are just as important as confidence. Our goal is to help each child find a safe, happy balance.

Watch how Fable’s relationship with the water changes over time.
